Lending a virtual hand during anticipatory grief

A note before you open your workbook

Step 1 - Make a copy

Click File > Make a copy to save your own version to Google Drive. This gives you full edit access so you can fill it in, rewrite prompts, and return to it as many times as you need. Without making a copy first, you won't be able to save any of your work.

Step 2 - Go at your own pace

Some sections will feel easy. Others might ask more of you than you're ready to give today. That's okay. Skip what doesn't fit. Rewrite what doesn't sound like you. This is yours.

Step 3 - You don’t have to do it alone

Consider asking a trusted friend or partner to sit with you as you fill this out. Some of these pages can bring up a lot. You're allowed to ask for company.

Thank you for being here. Whether your animal companion is still with you or their absence is already present in your home, the fact that you're doing this at all is an act of love. Thinking ahead about the hardest things isn't morbid. It's one of the most tender things you can do for yourself and for them.

This workbook was built to meet you wherever you are: in anticipation, in the thick of it, or somewhere in the quiet aftermath. You don't have to fill it out all at once. Come back to it. Leave pages unfinished. Let it grow with you.

Losing an animal companion is one of the most disorienting griefs there is. And yet, most of us are expected to navigate it without a roadmap, without language for what we need, and without anyone asking the right questions. This workbook was made to change that.

The Pet Death Plan & Aftercare Workbook walks you through the practical and the tender — end-of-life logistics, sacred space planning, rituals for the days after, and how to actually answer when someone says "let me know if there's anything I can do."

Whether your pet is still with you and you want to be prepared, or loss is already sitting in your house, this workbook meets you where you are. Take what fits. Leave what doesn't. Come back to it as many times as you need. Take as long as you need to move through it with intention.

This 14-page digital workbook is designed to give this turbulent time somewhere to land. It’s crafted to ease anxiety and help your brain cope with incoming loss with direction and clarity in an often foggy time.

It lives as an editable Google Doc, so you can make it uniquely yours, or even print it out to have at the ready.

This workbook is a living document and will be updated periodically to expand on questions from our communities, too.
